“For me, the most important thing I do for my clients is explain the process, let them know what to expect, why things are happening and what their options are. I want my clients to understand that they have control of their case. It’s gratifying to know that my skills as a lawyer make a difference to people who are put in a position where they know they are not being treated fairly by an employer or insurance company.”
Katherine was born and raised in Wyanet, Illinois, a town of 1,100 people. She says she knew everybody and everybody knew her.
Katherine didn’t know she wanted to be a lawyer until she was a political science major in college and realized she didn’t want to go into politics! The law seemed the logical step for her because it was less process and more hands on at a basic level. She says she loves what she does at Shay and Associates and couldn’t imagine sitting at a desk just doing paperwork.
Katherine attended law school in Chicago and held an externship with the Cook County Foreclosure Court. She also volunteered at the Center for Disability and Elder Law.
Katherine has two long-haired cats who are waiting for her every night when she comes home. An avid reader, she loves the classics and sci-fi fantasy novels.
